Wine Cork Christmas Tree Ornament

If there is one thing you can always find in my kitchen it is used wine corks. Why is it I have such a hard time throwing these little guys away. When I have finished my bottle of wine, I put them in a vase on the counter. Every year when Christmas time rolls around, I pull them out to make things. My daughter used them this year to make reindeer. She added brown pipe cleaner for the nose, googly eyes and an small red pompom nose. I made Christmas trees of all sizes. This is one of the small ones I tied a ribbon around with a bell and hung on the tree. They compliment a bottle of wine when giving as a gift. I just put it around the neck of the bottle. I found a few red corks to use at the top of my trees. The are so simple to make and my friend just love them.

Last Minute Treat Boxes

I like to have a few extra treats/gifts around the house for unexpected guest, which I had today.  I put them in a gift bag and pull them out for my guest. I had to be empty handed. My husband will always ask me, "What did we get for them?"

I picked up these boxes from Jaded Blossom a month back and knew I would find a use for them at Christmas time. The reindeer (Clarice from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer) was a freebie from the Rudolph Bog Hop they had which is no longer available. I used the print and cut feature on my cameo as I was running out of time to get my gift together this year. Who am I kidding, I run out of time every year. I always start out ahead of the game and finish behind. I filled the boxes with kisses using some winter candy stamps from Jaded Blossom as well. I added a few jingle bells on some Trendy Twine along with a tag I cute with my Cricut and stamped with "JOY" from CTMH Scandinavian Christmas. My cardstock, as always, is from CTMH. I love this paper!!!!

MERRY CHRISTIMAS!! I hope your day was filled with fun, laughter and lots of memories like mine.

Good Dog Holiday Treats

If you know anything about me, you know that I never leave our four legged friends out. We have two dogs; Max, a Jack Russell Terrier who thinks he is a Labrador and Sharky our little 6 pound Yorkie who thinks he is king of the castle.

I love finding cute little treats for the dogs at Petco. They have such fun themes. I found these Good Dog Holiday Treat printables from Whimsie Doodles. This file is a freebie. After printing the tags, I used a 1 3/4" round punch to cut them out and adhered them onto a 2" round piece of cardstock I cut using my 2" punch. My bags were 4" wide so I cut a square piece of paper at 4.25"x3" and scored on the 3" side at 1.5". I wrapped some ribbon around the cardstock after I folded it and tied a bow in front. I put a small staple in the center under the ribbon to keep the tag in place and the bag closed. Two pop up stickers to lift the dog tag and it was finished.

My daughter helped me get these done. We finished 25 for all our four legged friends in less than an hour. Super easy to put together.

Christmas Tree Tags

I am enjoying making all of our Christmas tags this year. I cut this tag out on my cameo combining two separate files from the Silhouette Store. The crinkle ribbon is from my craft spot as well as the to and from stamps. The sentiment "Warm Wishes this holiday season" is from CTMH Scandinavian Christmas Stamp Set. Merry Christmas on the front of the card is from Jaded Blossom.  I used CTMH cardstock and the printed paper came from my scrap stash.

Minion Christmas Basket

My children absolutely love Despicable Me and when part 2 came out, we were standing in line to see the movie. I made this basket for one of my employees at work after drawing his name for Secret Santa. Guys are sometimes hard to find a gift for but when he told me how he loves to spend time with his four children, I knew a movie basket would be perfect. I picket up these minions from PPPR as a freebie but they are still available for sale here http://www.prettypapergraphics.com/item_332/Minions-Cutting-Files.htm.  If you follow Lisa's blog, you will find she is very generous with her files.

The minions in the basket are actually microwave popcorn.  To make them I cute a piece of yellow cardstock 5.5" x 10" and scored it at 2" and 6". I folded it around the popcorn bag and glued it in the bag. To get the minions just the right size, I used my cameo to make a 4x6" square. I then imported my minions and sized them to fit on the square. I only cut the goggles and pants. I used a marker to draw their face on. Don't worry, there are red vines in the back. You just can't see them in the pictures. What is a movie without popcorn, candy and red vines (they are in their own category). These little guys turned out so darned cute.

Here it is all wrapped up with a bow and ready to be delivered to one lucky family.

Sparkle & Shine Christmas Tree Card

I found this file at the Silhouette Store and wanted to try it out. I used CTMH Sparkle & Shine Paper Pack for the printed paper; White Daisy, Ruby and New England Ivy for the Solid Cardstock. The sequins are from My Craft Spot, the Twine from Trendy Twine and the Sentiment is from Jaded Blossom's Winter Wishes Stamp set. I truly am loving this Sparkle & Shine Pack and if I haven't mentioned it already, CTMH cardstock is wonderful. My Silhouette and Cricut just cut through it like butter. Perfect cut every time, unlike some of the papers you buy at the craft store.

Sparkle & Shine Paper Cocoa Packet

I found the directions for this packet during a recent blog hop and decided to put my spin on this cute little cocoa packet holder. I am a new CTMH consultant and can't tell you enough how wonderful their paper is. It cuts like butter in both my Silhouette Cameo and my Cricut Expression II. I love, love, love this paper. I have included the recipe below so if you are looking for an item you may not have, stop by my CTMH store and have your supplies delivered right to your home. Every time a box arrives, it's like Christmas. I get so excited when I see the box sitting on my door step after a long day at work.

Super Salmon

I have been just dying to put this page together.  I must thank Lisa at PPPR for having the Super Hero Challenge to help jump start my project.

I used PPPR files for Superman, liquid shine for his belt and CTMH embellishments. I also added distress ink to the word Salmon to dirty it up.

So you must be wondering just how big it was???

Well, my daughter weighed in at 40 pounds and the King Salmon which my husband harvested out of the Kenai River weighed in at 51 pounds.

Close To My Heart Consultant

Hello Everyone,

Well, I did it!!! I jumped right in and became a consultant for Close To My Heart. I received my kit a few weeks ago and just received my first order of supplies today. I am so looking forward to creating beautiful projects with all of my CTMH products and sharing them with everyone.  I have added my consultant shopping site on the side bar for those of you that just "have to have it".

I plan to spend some time this weekend making a few projects and posting them. I will list the recipe for the projects in case anyone is interested.

Happy Turkey Day and don't forget to GOBBLE TILL YOU WOBBLE!!!

Huge Thanks Turkey Treat

It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is this month. I had to run to the pet store today and found these amazing little treats and just had to get them. Of course I knew that I couldn't give them to our little dogs (Jack Russell and Yorkie) so I decided to give them as a gift to a friend of mine who is always doing things for me. In our home we love our animals and they are family to us. We have always had dogs and I couldn't imagine life without them although on occasion I have thought about it when cleaning up the aftermath of a dog who had gotten into the chocolate candy bars.

I wanted to add a Thanksgiving stamp but alas I have none. Not yet anyway. You see I just got the stamping bug and I'm building my supply slowly.  I dug through my stash and found a stamp that would work perfect in a set called Fish On from Jaded Blossom. This is one of the first stamps sets I purchased. The turkey is from Turkey Time an SVG Cutting File.

Mini Me Designs a Card

My daughter (mini-me), age 7, has developed a love for scrapping just like her mother. Her dad comments that this hobby is taking away from their hunting time. I have explained to both of them that hunting is great and gives us memories (and pictures) to scrap.

Well, she has seen how I love to make cards and post them and recently asked me to post a card for her so that we could enter it in challenges. We made our criss-cross cards side-by-side, I did the sewing and cut the designs on my cameo. She is an expert on the Cricut Expression II but I have not given her the reins on the Silhouette just yet. She glued all the pieces and added all the extra bling. Did I mention bling??? Well, she loves it!!! I love her enough to let her imagination soar.

Fall Criss-Cross Card

I have been seeing these cards all over the web and decided I must make one. I went to YouTube and reviewed several videos until I found one the I could follow easy.  There are so many out there.

When I think of Fall, I think of yummy caramel apples. This treat was the inspiration for my card.  I dug into my stash of paper and found this beautiful paper that I picked up a few years ago and thought it was just too nice to use. It is from "imaginisce" fall collection. Love, love, love this paper.

The svg cuts are from PPPR and Miss Kate Cuttables. I added some doodles, buttons, twine and ribbon to make it pop. I really like the way it turned out. Now if I could just part with it.

Cascading Fall Card

I have seen several of the cards on the web and decided to take a stab at it. Wow, very time consuming to build. I became frustrated several time but finally after having to take several time outs, I was ready to decorate my card.

I used PPPR Apple Picking Cutting Files here http://www.prettypapergraphics.com/item_121/Apple-Picking-Cutting-Files.htm

Spooky Shaker Card

I have been wanting to make a shaker card and today assembled one for a few color challenges going on. For this challenges you have to use the colors orange, purple, black, green (or small amounts of green) and small amounts of white. Perfect for Halloween. To be honest, I had originally inked the white eyes, downloaded the photo and just before uploading it to my blog my seven year old daughter suggested googly eyes. "Great idea" I responded and she told me next time to check with her before I took the picture to make sure everything was right, lol. What can I say? She gets it from me.

The title is a freebie from My Scrap Chick and the witches hat was a freebie from Miss Kate Cuttables. I love those freebies. I purchased the ribbon from LoveBug Creations, the sequins from My Craft Spot and used black stickles on the hat. Yes, I need stamps to add to my cards. I just ordered a few but this is also why I am entering a few challenges. To build my supplies by adding stamp sets. This card seems fitting for the Cardz TV Challenge as I watched a video from one of her DT members to learn how to make the card. I'm sorry I can't remember which member as I watch so many. Much thanks for the how to.

Nuts About You Fall Card

Ok, so fall is almost gone in Alaska and winter is setting in. When I saw this cute little freebie squirrel on PPPR's blog hop this past weekend, I knew it would go perfect with the PPPR Freebie Friday Fall Tree. I just had to make this card for my husband's grandmother Ruthie, who is 92 years young. Thank you, Lisa, for all the great files and inspiration. I look forward to Friday's to see what you have for me.

If you didn't pick up the Nuts About You squirrel during the blog hop, you can still purchase it.

Stand Behind The Ribbon

I first learned of breast cancer at the age of 12 when my mother was diagnosed with it. Within two years of being diagnosed, she had a double mastectomy. When I was 16 years old, my mother passed away at the age of 40. Since the age of 23, I have had yearly exams. I will do whatever it takes to fight it off so that my children don't grow up without a mother. I choose to get my mammograms during breast cancer awareness month every year.

Hello Kitty Halloween Post-It Note Holder

I have seen several post-it note holders and wanted to try my hand at it. I picked up this HK cutting file from SVG Cutting Files during a blog hop with Jaded Blossom.  I wasn't sure what I would use it for but wanted it in my stash of files. My daughter has a lady that works with her at the Boys and Girls Club and she is all about Hello Kitty. Last Friday when I went to pick up the kids, she had a Hello Kitty shirt on.  It was at that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this file.

I cut a piece of cardstock 7.5" x 3" and scored it at 3.5" and 4". I glued the bottom of the post it note to the inside of the folded piece and used the hole punch at the end of each piece to add my crinkle ribbon. I added a tag using a die from My Craft Spots Jar Basic Metal Die Set and stamped it with My Craft Spot's Jar Full of Halloween Stamp set http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/p/clear-stamps.html. I love the way it came out.

Sorry about the shadow in the picture. I was having lighting issues.

Fall Card

The weather in Alaska sure did change quickly. These leaves are dropping fast and it seems that fall will be a very short season this year. When I woke up this morning it was 27 degree outside. Winter is just around the corner.  I put this card together after receiving some of my new stamps and dies from My Craft Spot.  I had a coupon at our local True Value store and went in to find some nice fall papers, which of course they had. The paper was so fun I had to decorate the inside as well. I have not stamped the inside yet as I am not sure what/who I will use the card for. I will add it to my stash and personalize it later.

To make this card I used the following:
6x6 Happy Harvest paper by Doodlebug
My Craft Spot Jar Metal Dies
My Craft Spot Jar Basic Stamp Set & Jar Full of Fall Stamp Set
My Craft Spot Vintage Vanilla Crinkle Ribbon
My Craft Spot Trick or Treat Sequins

What's Poppin'

I made these sweet treats for my staff at work. I purchased the Movie Night Card Set http://svgcuttingfiles.com/catalog.php?item=579 from SVG Cutting Files months ago and was dying to use it. The make it a little easier, I purchased Wilton popcorn boxes from Walmart. I used Velcro to keep the card closed and used a stamp from Tasty Treats (My Craft Spot) for the sentiment. Peachy Keen Stamps for the cute little faces, a few doodles and I was done.

Back to School

Amazing that my to children have started back to school in 2nd and 5th grade. I sent candy and cards in for their teachers but wanted to make something for the principal. I found some fun school svg cuts at PPPR. Love, love, love her files. Also the reason I purchased a silhouette cameo and began my journey in the blog world.  Trendy Twine is new to me and I love all the different colors they offer. I have been purchasing the mini sets because they include an  assortment of several flavors. Twine is fun to work with and adds the perfect finishing touch to a project.

Mt. View or BUSt Card

I made two of these cards for each of my children's teachers on the first day of school. We gave them jars of chocolate as well. The candy jar idea came from another blogger so I can't take credit for it but I can say the teachers loved it all. The card is from My Scrap Chick (School Bus Easel Card) here http://www.myscrapchick.com/product.cfm?product=831. It was new and with the sale I paid only $2 for the file ($1 off) but well worth $3. It is absolutely the cutest card.

Different but the Same

Living in Alaska has it's challenges. Every summer my son works with a group of wonderful therapist (and horses) participating in Hippo Therapy. Our summers are extremely short, only lasting three months and we look forward to this special time every year. When I think of summer I think of sunny days and horseback riding. The therapist work with every type of child with all different kinds of disabilities and they do a wonderful job. They are so patient with the kids and the horses are the calmest horses I have ever seen. It's as if they know they have a special job to do.

Tuesday is our last session, closing the therapy season for this year. I wanted to make a card for the two women (Angela and Noelle) who run this program and of course I couldn't forget the horses (Ozzy, Heidi, Dazzle and Indy) because without them it wouldn't be impossible.

I pulled out all my supplies and began mixing and matching and here is what I came up with. I hope they all enjoy their gifts.

I used the square easel card from My Scrap Chick here  http://www.myscrapchick.com/product.cfm?product=776 .  The little boy and girl along with the "Different but the Same" saying is from SVG Cutting Files Autism Awareness here http://svgcuttingfiles.com/catalog.php?item=329. The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom "Fish On" stamp set and the crinkle ribbon from My Craft spot.

For the horses, I put some organic carrots (nothing but the best) in a clear bag and added a tag.  The scallop tag is from Miss Kate Cuttables tags and backgrounds here http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/borders-banners-backgrounds/freebie-of-the-day-tags-and-backgrounds.php and the horse here http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/product/freebie-of-the-day-horse.php. I just love her daily freebies. I used Peppermint Creative design for the printed paper. The twine is from My craft spot. The nose and mouth are stamped from Peachy Keens PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment. I just taped off the eyes.

Ruff Day? Get Well!

I am currently experimenting with all the step cards. They sure look cute and definitely a lot of fun; giving you layers to decorate. I used the side step card, you can pick this file up at Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon here http://www.prettypapergraphics.com/item_245/Side-Step-Card-Cutting-Files.htm, with a fat puppy from the silhouette store along with a heart, paw prints and bone cut out from Miss Kate Cuttables. For the cute twine buttons, I took a 3D glue dot, made a knot in the end of the twine, stuck it in the center and wrapped around to cover the dot. I can't take credit for this technique as I picked it up from the design team at Trendy Twine during their blog hop this week. Thanks girls for sharing.

Chocolate Cake Birthday Cards

These cards are dedicated to my daughter who thinks that chocolate is one of the four food groups. She likes chocolate with everything. Once even asking for chocolate chips in her omelet. She is only seven years old but I think this is an addiction that will stick with her.

I couldn't resist this 3-Tiered Chocolate Birthday Cake from Miss Kate Cuttables and immediately cut out a bunch in different sizes. I used one on a treat bag for a girlfriend the then made these two cards. For the candles, I used a white gel pen. I mounted the cake with foam squares for dimension and added a little faux stitching with a black pen. The banners are from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon and I found a nice font from free fonts (great site to get fonts) and then used my silhouette to print and cut. The cards make me crave chocolate.

I am entering this in the Silhouette Challenge CH#3 Faux Stitching http://www.silhouettechallenges.com/

I added a few more embellishments to the first
card to make it pop. Looks good enough to eat!

Birthday Treat Bag

I made this project for a friend/coworker who just loves peppermint patties.  I used the K-Cup Treat Cutting Files http://www.prettypapergraphics.com/item_262/K-Cup-Treat-Cutting-Files.htm  at Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon.  I just chose not to cut the center cup holder. Instead I added a clear bag with peppermint patties. I added the 3-Tiered Birthday Cake from Miss Kate Cuttables http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/50-store/freebie-of-the-day-3-tiered-birthday-cake.php.  Some paper laying around by scrap bin, foam squares and a few doodles later and this is what I have.

I am entering this project in the following challenges:
Really Reasonable Ribbons Ramblings RRR75: Challenge #75 is 'Anything But a Card & Ribbon' http://reasonableribbon.blogspot.com/

I used a cream crinkle ribbon from My Craft Spot and American Craft Element ribbon (pink with brown stitching).

Wishing You Whale Card

For this project I used Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon's Spring Fling Polka Dots Digital Paper. This is by far my favorite digital paper pack right now. I also used PPPR's center panel step card and the whale is from their Sea Life cutting files. They also have a really cool Get well cutting file with a whale but I don't own that file, yet. I added a little wink to the whale for fun, some artic ice stickles for the water and bubbles along with a few brads. A few pop up dots to add dimension as viola...complete. Now, if I just knew someone who was sick right now....Oh well, I'll keep it for later. If you haven't been to visit Lisa at Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbon, you must go shopping http://www.prettypapergraphics.com/
I am also putting this card in the Silhouette Challenge #2 Print and Cut Mid Posting Number 3. Head on over to this blog http://www.silhouettechallenges.com/ and check out all the wonderful designs their DT came up with and post your project as well. Happy Scrapping!

FIRST CHALLENGE EVER!! CAMEO CREATIONS SUMMER TIME CHALLENGE

So I have been blog hopping for several months and just recently purchased a Silhouette Cameo. I love all the wonderful ideas and the beautiful projects so here I am. I have been a scrapbook junkie for the last 10 years and last year upgraded to the Cricut Expression 2 and now own over 70 cartridges. I just don't know if I will keep it now that the Cameo has entered my life.

I used the print and cut on the Cameo for my first project for the Cameo Creations Challenge.  The challenge is to create a summer-themed project using your Silhouette machine.  Here's what I created for this challenge:

I used the card base from the Silhouette Studio files.  The crab is from Pretty Paper Pretty Ribbons Moody Crab Cutting files prettypapergraphics.com/item_3/Moody-Crab-Cutting-Files. I used the print and cut to add my sentiment. Then a little ink and doodles to finish it up.

Thanks for looking and happy crafting!
