Stand Behind The Ribbon

I first learned of breast cancer at the age of 12 when my mother was diagnosed with it. Within two years of being diagnosed, she had a double mastectomy. When I was 16 years old, my mother passed away at the age of 40. Since the age of 23, I have had yearly exams. I will do whatever it takes to fight it off so that my children don't grow up without a mother. I choose to get my mammograms during breast cancer awareness month every year.

Hello Kitty Halloween Post-It Note Holder

I have seen several post-it note holders and wanted to try my hand at it. I picked up this HK cutting file from SVG Cutting Files during a blog hop with Jaded Blossom.  I wasn't sure what I would use it for but wanted it in my stash of files. My daughter has a lady that works with her at the Boys and Girls Club and she is all about Hello Kitty. Last Friday when I went to pick up the kids, she had a Hello Kitty shirt on.  It was at that moment I knew exactly what I wanted to do with this file.

I cut a piece of cardstock 7.5" x 3" and scored it at 3.5" and 4". I glued the bottom of the post it note to the inside of the folded piece and used the hole punch at the end of each piece to add my crinkle ribbon. I added a tag using a die from My Craft Spots Jar Basic Metal Die Set and stamped it with My Craft Spot's Jar Full of Halloween Stamp set http://craftspotbykimberly.blogspot.com/p/clear-stamps.html. I love the way it came out.

Sorry about the shadow in the picture. I was having lighting issues.

Fall Card

The weather in Alaska sure did change quickly. These leaves are dropping fast and it seems that fall will be a very short season this year. When I woke up this morning it was 27 degree outside. Winter is just around the corner.  I put this card together after receiving some of my new stamps and dies from My Craft Spot.  I had a coupon at our local True Value store and went in to find some nice fall papers, which of course they had. The paper was so fun I had to decorate the inside as well. I have not stamped the inside yet as I am not sure what/who I will use the card for. I will add it to my stash and personalize it later.

To make this card I used the following:
6x6 Happy Harvest paper by Doodlebug
My Craft Spot Jar Metal Dies
My Craft Spot Jar Basic Stamp Set & Jar Full of Fall Stamp Set
My Craft Spot Vintage Vanilla Crinkle Ribbon
My Craft Spot Trick or Treat Sequins

What's Poppin'

I made these sweet treats for my staff at work. I purchased the Movie Night Card Set http://svgcuttingfiles.com/catalog.php?item=579 from SVG Cutting Files months ago and was dying to use it. The make it a little easier, I purchased Wilton popcorn boxes from Walmart. I used Velcro to keep the card closed and used a stamp from Tasty Treats (My Craft Spot) for the sentiment. Peachy Keen Stamps for the cute little faces, a few doodles and I was done.

Back to School

Amazing that my to children have started back to school in 2nd and 5th grade. I sent candy and cards in for their teachers but wanted to make something for the principal. I found some fun school svg cuts at PPPR. Love, love, love her files. Also the reason I purchased a silhouette cameo and began my journey in the blog world.  Trendy Twine is new to me and I love all the different colors they offer. I have been purchasing the mini sets because they include an  assortment of several flavors. Twine is fun to work with and adds the perfect finishing touch to a project.

Mt. View or BUSt Card

I made two of these cards for each of my children's teachers on the first day of school. We gave them jars of chocolate as well. The candy jar idea came from another blogger so I can't take credit for it but I can say the teachers loved it all. The card is from My Scrap Chick (School Bus Easel Card) here http://www.myscrapchick.com/product.cfm?product=831. It was new and with the sale I paid only $2 for the file ($1 off) but well worth $3. It is absolutely the cutest card.

Different but the Same

Living in Alaska has it's challenges. Every summer my son works with a group of wonderful therapist (and horses) participating in Hippo Therapy. Our summers are extremely short, only lasting three months and we look forward to this special time every year. When I think of summer I think of sunny days and horseback riding. The therapist work with every type of child with all different kinds of disabilities and they do a wonderful job. They are so patient with the kids and the horses are the calmest horses I have ever seen. It's as if they know they have a special job to do.

Tuesday is our last session, closing the therapy season for this year. I wanted to make a card for the two women (Angela and Noelle) who run this program and of course I couldn't forget the horses (Ozzy, Heidi, Dazzle and Indy) because without them it wouldn't be impossible.

I pulled out all my supplies and began mixing and matching and here is what I came up with. I hope they all enjoy their gifts.

I used the square easel card from My Scrap Chick here  http://www.myscrapchick.com/product.cfm?product=776 .  The little boy and girl along with the "Different but the Same" saying is from SVG Cutting Files Autism Awareness here http://svgcuttingfiles.com/catalog.php?item=329. The sentiment is from Jaded Blossom "Fish On" stamp set and the crinkle ribbon from My Craft spot.

For the horses, I put some organic carrots (nothing but the best) in a clear bag and added a tag.  The scallop tag is from Miss Kate Cuttables tags and backgrounds here http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/borders-banners-backgrounds/freebie-of-the-day-tags-and-backgrounds.php and the horse here http://www.misskatecuttables.com/products/product/freebie-of-the-day-horse.php. I just love her daily freebies. I used Peppermint Creative design for the printed paper. The twine is from My craft spot. The nose and mouth are stamped from Peachy Keens PK-490 Everyday Character Face Assortment. I just taped off the eyes.
